Silicon Mountains Forum

On December 4-5, 2019 in Yerevan, the Matenadaran Conference Hall hosted the Silicon Mountains Forum on Smart Solutions in the field of ICT and the upcoming developments in the global market. The Forum was organized by the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies in cooperation with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia. Within the framework of the Forum, Armenian ICT companies and the invited foreign experts presented and discussed with the Armenian business community, public sector, ICT educational representatives, startups and the best students the upcoming challenges, perspectives of modern technology development, the importance of ICT application in different sectors of the economy.

The President of Armenia, Armen Sargsyan, and RA Minister of High-Tech Industry, Hakob Arshakyan, delivered welcoming speeches at the event.

The honorary guest of the Forum was Japanese scientist Dr. Takeo Kanade, Laureate of the RA State Award 2019 for Global Contribution to Humanity through IT. His speech was dedicated to multicamera technologies. During his speech, the Japanese scientist spoke about his past way, success stories and vision for the future.

On the first day of the Forum, discussions were held on the following topics: cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and the challenges of modern ICT education.

The event was attended by speakers from leading global organizations: Microsoft, Cisco, nCipher Security and NXP Semiconductors.

Cisco Systems Cybersecurity Sales Manager, Bremtan Mujeb, delivered a speech on “Building Trust through Cyber Security.”

nCipher Security Senior Systems Engineer, Volker Semmelmann, spoke on “The Source of Trust in a Connected World”.

Dmitrօ Turchin, Head of Artificial Intelligence at Microsoft’s headquarters in Central and Eastern Europe, spoke about the latest developments in artificial intelligence technologies.

Dmitry Koreyba, Cisco Systems Regional Business Director, spoke about the challenges of ICT education and its future.

Kevork Kechijian, Senior Vice President at NXP Semiconductors, spoke on “Secure Connections for a Smarter World.”

On December 5, the second day of the Forum, B2B meetings were held to discuss the practical application of ICT smart solutions in the economy.
