The Board members of the Union of ICT Employers met with the Vice-President of the German Bundestag Ms. Edelgard Bulmahn

On May 25, the Board Members of the Union of ICT Employers met with the Vice-President of the German Bundestag Ms. Edelgard Bulmahn and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Bernhard Matthias Kieslerin in the office of Synopsys Armenia.

The opportunities of extending Armenian-German relations in ICT fields were discussed during the meeting.
Ms. Bulmahn was interested in ICT fields areas’ development in Armenia, the cooperation of the Union with ICT companies, the Armenian start-up policy, status and trends in cybersecurity, Armenia-German cooperation in all fields and mainly in ICT fields and other questions.

Responding to Ms. Bulmahn’s questions the president of the Union of ICT Employers Armen Baldryan mentioned: ”Armenian-German relations in ICT fields need revision. We also need to work towards making them deeper, which is beneficial for both countries and mainly for Armenia. It is a great potential for cooperation in ICT fields in both countries.՛՛

It was noted that the Union of ICT Employers along with the companies in ICT fields, which are members of the Union, tries to coordinate the legislative, legal and educational issues. The main goal of the Union is training of specialists.

In order to solve the problem the Union initiated some projects such as establishment of the Third Generation University of advanced technologies (3GU), realization of the Pilot project of teaching ICT proffessions in high schools, etc.

The importance of cooperation in educational field  between Armenia and Germany was mentioned during the meeting.

The parties also reflected on the Cybersecurity International Forum that is going to be held in Armenia in the autumn and the importance of participation of German and European experts in this event.

Talking about start-ups, noted that only last year about 100 companies were established in the ICT field, which is the result of considerable legislative reforms made by the Government. A special emphasis was put on the further steps, such as increase of foreign investments and venture capital attraction.

Ms. Bulmahn got acquainted also with the activities of Union member companies, had a tour of  Synopsys Armenia, learnt about the results of 2015 of the Armenian Microelectronics Olympiad which takes place in Armenia annually.    The winner of 2015  was the participant from Germany.

Both sides agreed to join their efforts to further deepen the Armenian-German relations and  to cooperate with the German Embassy in Armenia towards the implementation of prospective projects of bilateral cooperation in the ICT field.
